CARRIE ANN BARK, VIOLIN
Carrie Ann Bark received her Bachelor’s in violin performance at the Jacob School of Music in Bloomington, IN in 2009, and masters with certification in music education, also at Jacobs, in May 2013. As a music teacher, she currently works for the Long Beach Unified School District in four different elementary schools, while teaching violin privately in Orange County. On weekends Carrie partners with her husband, Elliott Bark, in directing the Christian Youth Symphony of Irvine (CYSI). To continue using her skills as an orchestral performer, she plays for Bethel Korean Church in Irvine.
SAMUEL KIM, VIOLIN
Samuel Kim started playing the violin at the age of 10. Since then he received his musical trainings from the Orange County High School of the Arts, received his Bachelor’s at the Eastman School of Music, and Master’s at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. His musical influences include Kevork Mardirossian, Dr. Ernest Salem, Daniel Shindarov, Lynn Blakeslee, Ed Persi, and Roxi Persi. He is currently studying with Professor Henry Gronnier.
GLORIA KIM, VIOLA
Gloria Chu Young Kim, a native of South Korea, began to study the violin and the viola in the lyceum of Novosibirsk Conservatory in Russia. She won top prizes in several national and international competitions in Russia and Portugal. Ms. Kim received bachelor’s degree from Temple University and master’s degree from University of Southern California. She is a member of YMF Debut Orchestra in Los Angeles from 2013. She is currently pursuing her Advanced Degree in Viola Performance at California State University, Fullerton with Professor Che-Yen Chen.
HANNA LING, CELLO
Hanna Kim, cellist, completed her M.M. in Cello Performance and B.M. in Cello Performance from California State University, Fullerton. She studied primarily under Bongshin Ko and her past teachers also include Jonathan Kramer, and Malkhaz Dediashvili. She enjoys teaching students of various age and playing music as a soloist, ensemble, and orchestral musician. Currently, she privately teaches numerous talented students in Orange County and coaches for Orange Community Christian Youth Orchestra. As a cellist, she is an active member of Dosan Philharmonic and Ensemble Christo-Los Angeles, ensemble which became the ensemble-in-residence at Biola University.
jae kyung oh, cello
Cellist Jae Kyung Oh comes from Seoul Korea where she began her musical studies at the age of five on piano, and eight on cello. When she was eight years old, Jae won the Dong-Ah Youth competition and held a debut recital in Seoul. She continued to win prestigious awards from the Seoul Baroque Ensemble, Segye Ilbo, Seoul Symphony Orchestra, Kyung Hee University, Arts pool competition, and Lilian Fuchs Competition. After she received the bachelor of music degree from Seoul National University with the President Award, Jae came to United States in 2008 to continue her musical studies. Jae has received her masters degree from Manhattan School of Music and has extended her studies in MSM (PSD) under Ms. Marion Feldman with the President Award.
In Korea, Jae has performed chamber music and orchestra in numerous prestigious venues. She also toured Japan with the Bucheon Philharmonic, and Germany with Seoul Meets Manheim Symphony. Jae premiered C. Dusapin’s music with violinist Hae-Sun Kang in Korea.
In New York City, Jae performed as a co-principal with The New York Chamber Virtuosi and was a member of the Manhattan Symphony and SIA Ensemble. She has worked chamber music with American String Quartet, Mr. Clive Greensmith from Tokyo String Quartet, Ms. Sylvia Rosenberg and Mr. Nicholas Mann.
YOON-HEE JUNG, FLUTE
Yoon-Hee Jung, a native of Seoul, South Korea, began her flute studies at the age of seven and made her debut with the New Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra four years later. She attended the Yewon School and the Seoul Arts High School in Korea. Ms. Jung received her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees from the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, MA, and she is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Flute Performance at USC under James Walker. She also studied traverso with Dr. Rotem Gilbert and joined the Baroque Sinfonia of USC, in addition to performing with LA Opera's early music production of Dido and Aeneas by Purcell. Currently, Ms. Jung is working in the Colburn School's Jumpstart Young Musician's Program as a flute teaching artist, plays as a member of USC's Scholarship Woodwind Quintet 2014-2015.
Michelle Oh, oboe
Michelle Oh received her Bachelor’s in Music from the University of Southern California in 2014. She studied with David Weiss and Joel Timm during her years at USC. She is currently a private oboe teacher as well as a freelance oboist. Michelle will attend Carnegie Mellon University in the fall, in pursuit of a Master of Music degree and will study with Cynthia De Almeida, principal oboist of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra.
michael hong, clarinet
Michael Hong graduated from Azusa Pacific University and obtained his Bachelors of Music in Clarinet Performance. He began clarinet at the age of 11, was accepted to the Orange County School of the Arts (OCSA) in 2008, and was the principal clarinetist for their Symphony Orchestra and Wind Ensemble. He has won various school concerto competitions and had the honor to perform Debussy’s Premiere Rhapsody with the OCHSA Symphony Orchestra (Spring 2010) and Weber’s Concerto No. 2 in Eb Major with the APU Symphony Orchestra (Spring 2014). He was the principal clarinetist of the Orange County Youth Symphony Orchestra (OCYSO) in 2010.
He has participated in the All State Honor Band for 5 years and the All Southern Honor Band for 3 years. He was a winner of the Sigma Alpha Iota Music Scholarship Competition in 2012. He also received 1st 2012 Scholarship Competition.
An active teacher, he is currently teaching privately and coaches young students in different parts of Southern California. He had studied with Dr. William Wellwood, Jennifer Showalter, Tie Bai, and Michele Zukovsky. He is currently studying under Burt Hara.
elizabeth low-atwater, bassoon
Renowned for her musicality and warm sound, Bassoonist Elizabeth Low, is quickly establishing herself in the Southern California music scene. As a fellowship recipient, she attended UCLA for her Master’s degree studying with John Steinmetz and received her Bachelors from Cal State Fullerton. Other teachers include Dr. Rebecca Rivera, Gwendolyn Rose, and Elliot Moreau of the Pacific Symphony.
In the summer of 2010, she was invited to perform at the Hot Springs Music Festival, where she participated in various chamber groups in addition to their Festival Orchestra. An active chamber musician, at UCLA Ms. Low was invited to play in the scholarship Gluck Foundation's Woodwind Quintet that reaches out to the community through performances for non-profit organizations. She is a two time finalist in the Coleman Chamber Competition of 2010 and 2011, and has played for the Music Guild Association.
Elizabeth is on adjunct faculty at Fullerton College as well as numerous local schools including Oxford Academy and Irvine High. She also keeps a private studio where her students have gone on to play in honor orchestras, chamber events, and received music scholarships in college. In addition to her teaching, Elizabeth is maintaining an active performing career playing with groups like the Huntington Beach Symphony Orchestra, Dana Point Symphony, and the Neapolitan Trio.
She loves to travel and has been to many places around Europe and Asia for both musical and humanitarian purposes.
RACHEL SPIDELL, HORN
Rachel Spidell received her Bachelor’s Degree in Horn Performance from the University of Arizona in 2013. While in Tucson, Rachel was an active presence in both the University and local music scenes, performing with groups such as the Arizona Symphony Orchestra, the Southern Arizona Symphony Orchestra, and the Sierra Vista Symphony Orchestra, as well as with various chamber ensembles.
In the summer of 2013 Rachel performed as a member of the 2013 Disneyland All-American College Band in Anaheim, CA. Last fall she relocated to Southern California where she freelances and performs as a community volunteer with the UCI Symphony Orchestra.
hyungbin aiden jung, Trumpet
Hyungbin Aiden Jung is currently a trumpet player with Ensemble Christo-Los Angeles and Dosan Philharmonic Orchestra. He is also an on call for guest performer with Orquesta Sinfonica de la Universidad de Guanajuato in Mexico. He served as a trumpet player with Brass Without Borders in the United States. He served as a coach in Brass area at Christian Youth Symphony of Irvine, Shekinah Music Academy and a brass coach at Diamond Youth Symphony Orchestra. He performed as a soloist in Asia, Oceania, South and North America.
Jung holds the Bachelor of Music degree in Trumpet Performance from the Missouri State University and the Master of Music degree in Trumpet Performance from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM). His principal teachers include Jong-Woon Lee, Grant Peters, Alan Siebert, and Philip Collins.

arthur lin, percussion
Arthur Lin is a percussionist in the Southern California area. He is interested in all types of musical art forms, but displays great passion for orchestral music. He has performed under such conductors as Carl St. Clair, Maxim Eshkenazy, Joshua Roach, Mitchell Fennell, and John Carnahan. During the summer of 2014, he performed timpani and percussion at the Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall during the Pacific Chorale’s Choral Festival, under the direction of John Alexander.
Active as a soloist, he received 1st prize for Collegiate Snare Drum and 1st prize for Collegiate Marimba in the PAS Festival Competition, respectively in 2013 and 2015.
Besides orchestral music, Arthur adores the music of J.S. Bach and performs it regularly on marimba. In addition, his favorite solo repertoire includes the music of Barrios and Piazolla.
He is currently completing an undergraduate degree at California State University Fullerton, where his primary teachers are Robert Slack, Ken McGrath, and Todd Miller. In 2014, he attended the Alan Abel Percussion Seminar where he attended the master classes of Alan Abel and members of the Philadelphia Orchestra. During the summer of 2015, Arthur spent the summer attending the Brevard Music Center Summer Institute and Festival.
MATT ORDAZ, PERCUSSION
Matt Ordaz received his Bachelor’s Degree in Percussion Performance from Biola University’s Conservatory of Music. While at Biola, he served as the principal percussionist/drummer in various orchestral and jazz ensembles, and was requested by the Conservatory to record a solo album entitled, Marimba Expressions. Currently Matt serves as the Music Director for Heights Christian Junior High, teaches privately at Biola and through his home studio, and continues to work as a freelance drummer/percussionist throughout Southern California.
Howard chen, piano
Haosi Howard Chen (b. 1991) is a composer and pianist who has received recognition for his active involvement in both composing and performing new music. A previous winner of the UCLA All-Stars Concerto Competition, Howard was also a winner of the 2015 Hugo Davies Student Composition Competition at UCLA. Other awards include the 1 st Prize for the IVC Student Composition Competition, and the UCLA Herbert E. Wise Composition Scholarship, as well as research fellowships and scholarships from the department and the UCLA Graduate Division. Recent performances include those of his works at the EUREKA! Conference at University of California, Santa Cruz, the CFAMC Conference held at Biola University, and the 2015 highSCORE Festival in Pavia, Italy, during this past summer. Howard is a Master of Arts candidate in composition at University of California, Los Angeles, where he currently serves as a teaching assistant for the undergraduate music theory courses. His primary teachers are David Lefkowitz, Richard Danielpour, and Ian Krouse. He has also studied with the visiting professor Eric Tanguy and Bruce Broughton.
HEE-SEUNG LEE, PIANIST
Hee-Seung Lee, a native of Korea, has won the First Prize in Eum Hyup Competition of Korea, Redlands Bowl Young Artist Competition, MTAC State Piano Competition, Palisades Symphony Young Artist Competition, Glendale Piano Competition, the Second Prize in Dan Stover Music Competition and Oberlin Mozart Concerto Competition among many others. Lee has soloed with Palisades Symphony, Los Angeles Doctors Symphony and Crossroads Chamber Orchestra. Lee has received BM under full scholarship and the Piano Faculty Prize from Oberlin Conservatory of Music, MM and Performer Diploma under Associate Instructorship from Indiana University and is currently completing DMA under merit scholarship at USC Thornton School of Music studying with world-renowned pianist Daniel Pollack. Lee has studied with Yin Yin Huang, Angela Cheng, Arnaldo Cohen, Jean-Louis Haguenauer, and with Yoheved Kaplinsky and Mack McCray during summers.
JEEHEE CHRISTY OH, PIANIST
Jeehee Christy Oh is a pianist and music educator. She completed her Bachelor's Degree in Piano at Jacobs School of Music, Indiana University, where she studied under Edmund Battersby and Reiko Neriki. She also attended Los Angeles County High School for the Arts and Colburn School of Performing Arts. She is currently a member at Music Teachers' Association of California and is teaching at the OrchePia School of Music in Irvine, CA. She loves inspiring young students to love music and enjoys performing with many various ensemble and choir groups.
ELLIOTT BARK, CONDUCTOR
Elliott Bark has received The 31st Republic of Korea Composition Award (the most prestigious composition award in Korea) and Carnegie premiere of his Shalom for Flute and Orchestra. As a conductor, he devotes a tremendous amount of time to conducting new music by living composers, premiering more than 50 compositions by living composers. A recipient of 2012 Mrs. Hong Pham New Music Performance Award from Indiana University, Elliott is currently music director/conductor of Ensemble Christo, Bethel Vision Orchestra and Porterville Summer Strings, and previously worked with Indiana University New Music Ensemble as assistant conductor. Elliott received his Doctor of Music at Indiana University, studying composition with Claude Baker, David Dzubay, Don Freund and P.Q. Phan and instrumental conducting with David Effron and Arthur Fagen.
